En ce moment à Varsovie se tient la deuxième exposition "Designer Toys" organisée par l'équipe de Subnormal.pl et nos amis de Highlandtoys.com. Cette expo regroupe plusieurs pièces de collections personnelles, des photos ainsi que des customs réalisés pour l'occasion afin de présenter au public le mouvement dans sa plus complète diversité.

Plusieurs Playing Art ont été invités à participer et c'est ici la version de l'artiste polonais Ciah-Ciah qui est dévoilée... Une œuvre réellement impressionnante entre peinture, sculpture et illustration qui fascine par la précision de son exécution.

The second edition of the exhibition "Designer Toys", organised by the team of Subnormal.pl and our friends of Highlandtoys.com is holding now. This exhibit is showing pieces fom private collections, photographies and customs especially realised for the event in order to show to the public this movement in its whole diversity.

Several Playing Art have been asked to participate and it's the interpretation of the Polish artist Ciah-Ciah that is shown here...This piece is truly impressive; something between sculpture, painting and illustration that fascinates and amazes by the quality of its execution.

Artiste Peintre contemporain, amoureux de la culture. Il utilise une technique affinée depuis 14 ans, structurée, faite de couches et surcouches pour obtenir dans un premier temps un fond travaillé qui lui permet par la suite de pouvoir coucher ses couleurs en jouant avec les reliefs et la lumière.
En 2003 il découvre l'univers des toys. Une vraie réflexion s'impose alors à lui : Comment retranscrire ses travaux sur toile sur les toys afin de sortir des sentiers battus ?
Quelques réponses essentielles apparaissent naturellement, toujours axées sur la quête de variations de lumières et de couleurs qui se jouent de leurs effets, reflets, suivant l'humeur de l'environnement ; le tout grâce à un savant dosage de peinture pour obtenir une juste réaction des nuances entre elles et un peu de poudre de "perlimpinpin" pour un rendu coloré et brillant.

Focus Playing Art DIY

C'est en 2006 qu'est née l'idée de Playing Art. Il s'agissait de proposer une alternative aux plate-formes de l'époque (Qee, Dunny, Trexi...), un personnage étudié pour servir de support au graphisme mais moins figé que ses camarades.
Et puis, puisque le logo de la marque est un singe, autant utiliser la même identité pour le jouet.

Pour que cette figurine devienne une vraie "toile" pour l'artiste, il est nécessaire d'offrir un maximum de surfaces vierges. Le but est de proposer un jouet à la personnalité forte mais facilement transformable ; c'est pour ça que la face du singe est plate, sans nez, sans yeux, sans rien. D'ailleurs personne n'est certain que ce soit bien le côté plat sa vraie face !

En plus Playing Art peut prendre plein de poses, des attitudes infinies... Zen, agressif, impassible, il devient un élement de décoration parfaitement modulable.

Depuis 2006, il y a eu beaucoup de recherches sur la forme et les articulations, de travail réalisé à la modélisation, des négociations acharnées avec le fabricant, des heures de réflexion sur le choix des matières... Et aujourd'hui Playing Art est accepté et reconnu par les artistes comme par les amateurs de bel objet.

It's in 2006 that the idea of "Playing Art" was born. The purpose was to offer an alternative to existents platforms that already existed (Qee, Dunny, Trexi...), to draw a character designed as a base for art but not as still as its friends.
And then, as the brand's logo is a monkey, we should use the same for the toy.

In order to transform the figure into a real "frame" for the artist, we had to propose a maximum of blank surfaces. The goal is to propose a toy with a strong personality but with a shape that can be easily customized; it's why the face is flat, with no nose, no eye, no nothing. And yet, nobody's really sure that the flat side is actually the face!

What is more, Playing Art can take a lot of cool poses, an infinity of attitudes... Zen, angry, neutral, it become a piece for deco that you can change at will.

Since 2006, there has been a lot of researches on shape and joints, work done on modelling, hard negotiating with the manufacturer, hours spent on choosing the right material... And now Playing Art is well appreciated and recognized by both artists and design lovers.

Puisque Février est le mois de l'amour et que les roses et les chocolats c'est dépassé, quoi de plus original qu'offrir à la personne que vous chérissez le plus un couple de mignons petits singes amants ?

J'avais envie de vous montrer un bout d'étagère ! Dernièrement j'ai acquis ces deux petites pièces...

Le Rose Vampire de Super7 est magnifique. Le design du personnage créé par Josh Herbolsheimer est particulièrement bien trouvé et la sculpture bien réalisée. Les peintures sont soignées et le plastique "made in Japan" de très bonne qualité. Je trouve juste dommage que le personnage soit un peu figé mais finalement ça lui donne un petit air "mascotte" qui me rappelle ces jouets publicitaires qu'on pouvait gagner quand papa avait fait 5 pleins d'essence. Ce monstre est mignon tout plein, un vrai séducteur.

Et puis il y a le BUD (Blow Up Doll) de Jamungo. Un petit toy plateforme très bien réalisé et plein d'articulations (mais alors tout plein, il bouge dans tous les sens). Je suis un grand fan de Yuck, j'admire son travail depuis longtemps. C'est très propre et très sale, de la ligne claire très compliquée... Le travail d'impression sur le jouet est très soigné et le dessin sur ces formes rondes bien approprié.

Je montrerai d'autres jouets bientôt...

I wanted to show you a part of my shelves! Recently I acquired these two pieces...

The Rose Vampire from Super7 is wonderful. The design of the character by Josh Herbolsheimer is really well done and the sculpting is very good. The paintings are thorough and the plastic "made in Japan" is excellent quality. I just regret a little bit that the figure stands in a too straight position but it also gives it that little something of the mascots we could collect in the gas stations when I was a kid. This monster is very cute, a real seducer.

And then there's the BUD (Blow Up Doll) from Jamungo. A little platform toy very well conceived and full of articulations (but really a lot, it can move all the parts in all directions). I'm a big fan of Yuck, I admire his artwork for a long time now. It's very clean and very dirty, some simple lines on complicated designs... The printing on the toy is really well done and the drawing fits well the round shapes of the BUD.

I'll show you more toys soon...

Un gros merci à Nico du bar, expo le Monde Moderne à Lille et Foetus de Some Cool Stuff pour leur accueil chaleureux et l'organisation de la soirée. Plein de gens avaient fait le déplacement et des artistes incroyables, Skwak, Koa, Lady Alezia, Danyboy, Ki-Haï, SAS, Twan87 et Rimrimrim ont lâché leur créativité sur nos Playing Art.
Les jouets restent en exposition à la galerie pendant encore une semaine ; nous, nous prendrons des photos des customs bientôt.

Quand Spasm One nous a promis une version de notre Playing Art, nous nous attendions à l'interprétation d'un des monstres Kaiju chers à son cœur ; nous étions assez intrigués. Mais voilà, Spasm One ne va jamais où on l'attend... On lui offre un singe, il le transforme en Barong balinais, esprit lion qu'il condamne à danser. Évidemment pour nous, ça a été le coup de foudre, ce design noir et jaune nous a immédiatement séduit. Et puis il y a des flammes, c'est cool les flammes !

When Spasm One promised us a version of our Playing Art, we were expecting an interpretation of one of the kaiju monsters dear to his heart. But now, Spasm One never goes where you expect him to go ... We offer him a monkey, he transforms it into a Balinese Barong, lion spirit that he condemned to dance. Obviously for us, it was love at first sight, this black and yellow design has immediately captivated us. And then there is flames, flames is cool!

Depuis longtemps, nous admirons le travail de Aro, l'originalité de son trait et les choix de ses couleurs (ou de ne pas utiliser la couleur) nous fascinaient. Enthousiasmé par notre projet, Christian nous a livré son interprétation de Playing Art, Woodi, le dernier singe plante de derrière Jupiter. Woodi est sauvage, Woodi est classe, Woodi est sobre, Woodi est camo, Woodi est feuilles, Woodi est plastique, Woodi est mignon, Woodi est méchant, Woodi est bleu, Woodi est noir... On adore Woodi ! ^^

Concours Playing Art chez Album Montpellier

Hier soir s'est clôturé le concours de custom sur base "Playing Art", à la librairie Album de Montpellier.
Les délais de création et d'exposition furent assez courts (fêtes de Noël obligent) mais nous sommes d'autant plus ravis des customs reçus, les artistes ayant montré une belle palette de genres et de techniques.
Et tout d'abord, félicitations aux... 2 vainqueurs !

Yesterday evening was the end of the custom contest based on "Playing Art" shape, at the librairie "Album" in Montpellier.
Time allowed for creation and exposure was relatively short (Xmas oblige) but we are particularly pleased with the customs received, the artists have shown a beautiful palette of genres and techniques.

Jeudi c'était Guangdong pour faire le point avec notre amie Nancy qui a inspecté la production pendant son déroulement. Même si nous sommes très fiers de la qualité de nos produits, elle a confirmé nos impressions lors des visites des usines. Ce voyage était très important pour nous, il nous a permis de rencontrer les équipes, mieux nous rendre compte des difficultés de certaines exigences et s'assurer des bonnes conditions de travail des usines. C'est après une autre journée bien remplie et un repas très pimenté que nous avons retraversé la frontière pour rejoindre notre hôtel à Hong Kong.

Although we are very proud of the quality of our products, it confirmed our impressions during factory visits. This trip was very important for us, we met the teams, we realized the technical difficulties of some requirements and ensure good working conditions in the factories. It was after another busy day and a very spicy meal that we crossed the border to reach our hotel in Hong Kong.

Demain c'est la visite des usines de fabrication et correction des prototypes. Mais pour l'instant gros dodo, le décalage horaire nous a quand même bien assommés.

Naël, c'est le gars qui avait réalisé le custom du PLAYING ART mutant si sobrement intitulé "H1N1" pour notre exposition de présentation... Mais en plus de modeler le pate FIMO, Monsieur Naël s'amuse à trafiquer les images ; à les faire bouger.

Il aime faire croire qu'en fait il a fait copain avec ses jouets pour qu'ils le laissent les filmer mais il avoue aussi que derrière cette animation il y a un peu de travail :
- Environ 760 photo utilisées.
- Presque 6 heures pour l'animation et environ 12 heures de travail sur le montage, trucages et pose de sons.
- Presque tous les stickers pour les yeux de la planche fournie ont été utilisés (sauf 3) et un a été sacrifié dans l'opération.

Nous, nous sommes vraiment très fiers de ce petit film... Il est drôle, inventif, bourré de qualités et il rend un hommage magnifique au jouet.

Naël is the guy who made the custom of the mutant PLAYING ART so soberly named "H1N1" for our launch party ... But not only he sculpts FIMO clay, Mister Naël's playing with pictures; making them move.

He likes to make us believing that he simply made friends with his toys for them to leave him film them but he also admits that behind this animation there is a little bit of work:
- Approximatively 760 photos were used.
- Almost 6 hours have been spent for the animation and about 12 hours working on editing, special effects and sound installation.
- Almost all the stickers for the eyes of the sheet provided were used (except 3) and one was sacrificed in the operation.

We, we're really proud of this little film ... It is funny, inventive, full of qualities and it makes a magnificent tribute to the toy.

Oh les jolis petits singes coquins !...

Le 29 octobre 2007, j'avais rendez-vous avec Tizieu pour la première fois. C'était à l'occasion de l'exposition collective "Hello Ghetto Fou" chez Artoyz, j'en profitai pour lui faire part d'un projet qui me trottait alors dans la tête. Puisque le logo de notre entreprise était un petit singe un peu civilisé, pourquoi ne pas présenter dès le lancement de la société, une mascotte (ou plutôt un couple de mascottes). Le style de Tizieu est parfait pour cet exercice, mélange de BD et d'art urbain, il correspond exactement à ce que nous attendions. 3 jours plus tard, emballé par le défi il nous envoie les premiers croquis, l'idée était là... Marcel arrive un peu plus tard avec son look malicieux ensuite rejoint par sa copine Jessica.

Le plus compliqué dans tout ça ? Les T-Shirts ? Les deux jeux de mains ?

Oh the cute little naughty monkeys...

On October 29, 2007, I first met Tizieu. That was for the occasion of the exhibition "Hello Ghetto Fou" at Artoyz, I took the opportunity to to talk with him about a project I then had in mind. Since our company logo was a little monkey somewhat civilized, why not present at the launch of the company, a mascot (or rather a couple of mascots). Tizieu's style is perfect for this, mixing comics and street art, it is exactly what we expected. 3 days later, excited by the challenge he sent us the first sketches, the idea was there ... Marcel arrived a little later with his mischievous look then joined by his girlfriend Jessica.

The most complicated in all this? The T-shirts? The separates hands?

Attention nos toys ne sont pas des jouets. La définition appropriée est "figurine de collection". Ces "figurines" ne sont pas destinées à des enfants mais bien à des adultes (ou tout au moins un public de plus de 14 ans).

J'avais même fait un joli picto pour bien signaler que laisser un enfant mettre un PLAYING ART à la bouche pouvait se révéler dangereux (et réellement dommage pour le PLAYING ART). Mais voilà, les autorités du Ministère de l'Industrie nous en ont empêché ; ce genre de picto sur la boîte pourrait prêter à confusion avec un marquage de jouets pour enfants. Donc pas de picto rigolo sur nos boîtes...

Attention our toys are not toys. The appropriate definition is "collectible figure". These "figures" are not intended for children but for adults (or at least an audience of more than 14 years old).

I even made a pretty good pictogram to show that letting a child put a PLAYING ART in the mouth could be dangerous (and could actually damage the PLAYING ART). But officials at the Ministry of Industry did not allow us to do so, such pictogram on the box could be confused with a marking of toys for children. So, no funny picto on our boxes...

Focus Moon-K...

J'aimerais vous parler un peu plus de Moon-K...

Tout d'abord que les choses soient claires, malgré son nom ce robot n'a jamais vu la Lune. Créé dans les années 70, cet ordinateur autonome avait, d'après son créateur, pour mission de défendre la Terre, au sol.

Pourquoi commencer par ce jouet plutôt qu'un autre ? Parce-que c'est le dernier à avoir été livré... C'est celui qui nous aura pris le plus de temps.

Il aura fallu trouver le bon partenaire pour réaliser les stickers pour les yeux... En sérigraphie, s'il vous plait ! Il aura fallu s'assurer ensuite que chaque planche de sticker est proprement découpée. Nous avons compté 16 possibilités différentes mais c'est sans mélanger les motifs, vous pouvez vous amuser à mettre le regard que vous voulez à votre Moon-K il aura toujours l'air aussi impressionnant !

Le design du jouet est d'une extrême finesse. Oui le jouet est blanc mais sa décoration est toute en traits et en vis. Il aura fallu faire recommencer les peintures plusieurs fois avant que les traits ne soient correctement alignés et que les dessins des petites plaques correspondent bien aux planches techniques fournies par l'artiste.

Et puis il y a cette boîte. Un exemple en matière de documentation, la parfaite réplique d'un authentique container maritime ; les codifications des marquages sont rigoureusement fidèles aux normes. Regardez sur les côtés, le moteur qui sert à refroidir le container a chauffé l'affiche des mentions légales et dessous les frottements répétés ont usé une peinture sauvage représentant le monstre moderne.

Mais le mieux (ou le pire pour certains) reste à venir... Cette boîte, il va falloir la découper pour profiter pleinement de la base du Moon-K comme l'a conçue LeJam. La boîte, se découpe, se retourne et se transforme en display pour le jouet. Et on comprend mieux comment ce robot a pu atteindre notre époque sans s'abimer. Tout est prévu pour assurer sa maintenance, du générateur atomique à la sauvegarde de ses données... Même le plan de maintenance. Il y a tout.

Enfin pas tout puisque le papa nous parle déjà de modules supplémentaires en paper model à télécharger bientôt sur notre site...

Let me talk a little more about Moon-K ...

First of all, to be clear, despite its name this robot has never seen the moon. Created in the 70s, this self powered computer was, as told by its creator, created to defend the Earth, on the ground.

Why starting with this toy over another? Because it has been the last to be delivered ... It is the one which took the longest to be produced.

It took finding the right partner to make the stickers for the eyes ... In screen printing, please! We had then to ensure that each board of sticker is cleanly cut. We counted 16 different possibilities but without mixing patterns, you can have fun putting the look you want on your Moon-K it will always look as impressive!

The design of the toy is extremely fine. Yes the toy is white but its decoration is all in features and screws. We had to start over the paintings several times before the lines are properly aligned and that the drawings of small plates correspond to the technical sheets supplied by the artist.

And then there is this box. An example of documentation, a perfect replica of an authentic shipping container; markings are strictly faithful to the standards. Look at the sides, the motor used to cool the container has heated the printing with the mentions and below the repeated friction have scratched a painting depicting the wild-modern monster.

But the better (or worse for some) is coming ... This box, you will have to cut it out to enjoy the base of the Moon-K as conceived by LeJam. The box is opened, turned and turns into a display for the toy. And we understand better how the robot was able to achieve our time without being damaged. Everything is planned to ensure its maintenance, an atomic generator and safeguard for its data ... Even the maintenance plan. It has everything.

Well not everything, since its dad is already talking of additional modules in paper model for download soon on our website ...

Nous avons reçu nos premiers fan arts et c'est ANT du collectif Pandakrew qui nous les a envoyés. On va les garder précieusement avec le custom qu'il nous a offert. L'architecture du trait, le graphisme chaotique, le gout du détail, l'harmonie des teintes... tout ça est savamment dosé pour atteindre un style inventif et rarement rencontré ailleurs. Dans leur blog, les objets sont détournés, leurs personnages sont partout dans l'univers du quotidien et une lettre T se transforme en panda... Fascinant!

On est comme ça !

- Au Tibet, le singe est symbole de la conscience qui saute d'un objet à l'autre comme le singe saute de branche en branche. C'est l'ancêtre des tibétains, fils du ciel et de la terre, né de la division de l'œuf primordial.
- En Inde, le roi singe représente adresse, spontanéité, fantaisie et dissipation.
- En Égypte, le dieu Thot, grand cynocéphale blanc est le patron des savants et des lettrés. C'est un artiste, ami des fleurs, des fêtes et un magicien puissant. Il est le maître du temps. Mais en temps que Baba, le mâle d'entre les babouins, il est querelleur, lubrique et baveux.
- Chez les Aztèques et les Mayas, les gens nés sous le signe du singe sont experts dans les arts, chanteurs, orateurs, écrivains sculpteurs ou industrieux et doués pour l'artisanat. Il est aussi chez les Aztèques comme chez les Fali du Nord Cameroun un avatar du forgeron voleur de feu.
- Pour les Indiens Bororo, il invente le feu. Le singe est un malicieux magicien masquant ses pouvoirs, dont le premier est l'intelligence, sous des aspects caricaturaux.
- En Grèce, les cercopithèques sont à l'origine les Cercopes, bandits de grands chemins, géants qui se sont attaqués à Hercule. Ficelés pour être vendus ils le mirent de bonne humeur par des plaisanteries et Heracles les relâcha mais irrité par leur vie de brigandage, Zeus les transforma en singes. Cette image du singe voleur se retrouve aussi chez les indiens Winebago aux USA.
- Dans l'iconographie chrétienne le singe est souvent l'image de l'homme dégradé par ses vices et en particulier la luxure et la malice. L'analyse rejoint cette idée en y voyant une image d'indécence, de lubricité, d'agitation, d'insolence et de vanité ; caricature du MOI, brutale, cupide et lascive.

Une légère modification au niveau de la queue et la préparation des moules va pouvoir être lancée ! Quelle excitation !

Notre premier prototype ! Réalisé par Sandra et Mat, il nous aura bien aidé. Ca fait bizarre de passer du papier à la sculpture ; mais grâce à ça, on a pu vérifier les articulations et les volumes. Merci les copains !

Voici le premier reportage du Lab !

Le 7 mars, Bee a pris l'avion pour Hong Kong... c'était la 2e fois, mais cette ville est toujours aussi impressionnante ! Après une journée de récupération, la première rencontre professionnelle, et pas des moindres : le fournisseur qui va réaliser nos toys : )
Bon contact, rendez-vous sérieux et préparé des 2 côtés, ça fait plaisir. J'ai bavé sur leur showroom....en aurait bien ramené la moitié à la maison (pardon, au bureau bien sûr) ^^
Nous avons calé les derniers détails et rendu les choses réalistes.
Une série spéciale de 50 exemplaires fait par exemple partie des choses quasi-infaisables, par contre dans la série des bonnes nouvelles, nous avons appris que la queue souple du Playing Art pouvait être injectée d'une pièce avec la tige métallique à l'intérieur ! Plus de petit capuchon pour fermer l'extrémité, ce sera plus beau et mieux fini : )
La rencontre « en vrai » est indispensable avant la commande pour ce type de produits : il faut pouvoir toucher les matières avec le fournisseur pour bien se mettre d'accord sur la dureté souhaitée et les finitions, observer la qualité des objets présents dans le show room, et tout simplement s'assurer un bon relationnel. Nous nous sommes finalement rencontrés deux fois, et en avons profité pour confirmer sur place le packaging de nos toys, avec des exemples à l'appui et la bonne surprise de se voir proposer l'impression de l'intérieur des boites avec fenêtre, ce qui permettra un décor ou une accentuation de la mise en valeur du jouet par un jeu de couleurs.
Histoire d'être sûrs de nous, j'avais également pris rendez-vous avec le fournisseur concurrent, avec qui nous n'avions pas pu atteindre des prix de fabrication raisonnables. Cette rencontre a confirmé que ce fournisseur ne correspondait pas à nos produits, entre autres parce qu'il est habitué à de très grosses quantités et que par conséquent nos petites séries n'étaient pas intéressantes pour eux. La cible de leurs produits était également assez différente de la notre.

Ce voyage aura donc permis en premier lieu de confirmer nos choix. Nous avons en outre ressenti un réel intérêt et une envie du côté du fournisseur, ce qui est appréciable ! Sur la fin nous avons posé quelques jalons pour de futurs projets, à suivre...

Here is the first report of the Lab!
March 7, Bee flew to Hong Kong ... it was the 2nd time, but this city is still impressive! after a day of recovery, the first business meeting, and not the least: our toys' supplier :)
Good contact, it was pleasant to see the meeting was seriously prepared on both sides. I drool on their showroom .... would have reduced in half at home (sorry, office of course) ^ ^
We stalled the last detail and made things realistic.
A special series of 50 copies, for example, is something almost impossible, whereas among good news, we learned that the flexible tail of Art Playing could be injected with a piece of the metal rod within ! No more small cap to close the end, it will be more beautiful and better finished:)
The "true" meeting is necessary before the order for such products must be able to touch the material with the supplier to fully agree on the desired hardness and finishes, to observe the quality of the objects in the show room, and simply ensure a good relationship. We finally met twice and have the opportunity to confirm on-site packaging of our toys, with examples to support and good surprise to be offered the impression of inner window boxes, this allowing decoration or an accentuation of the toy's display by contrasting color.
To be sure of ourselves, I also made an appointment with the competitor supplier, with whom we had not been able to achieve reasonable manufacturing price. This meeting confirmed that the supplier did not match to our products, among others because it is used to very large quantities and therefore our small series were not interesting to them. The target of their products was also quite different from ours.

This trip allowed first to confirm our choice. We also felt a real interest and desire on the part of the supplier, which is great! At the end we asked a few milestones for future projects to follow ...

Bonjour,

Nous, c’est «le Lab». Le Lab, c’est un peu une entreprise à l’image du petit singe de notre logo : Curieuse et malicieuse. Intelligente et insolente.

Evidemment, puisque c’est un laboratoire, on va prendre beaucoup de plaisir à mélanger plein d’ingrédients, des artistes, des styles et des genres graphiques variés avec à chaque fois la joie de découvrir une nouvelle recette. Nous allons enfin assumer notre passion, vivre au milieu des jouets et travailler avec de chouettes artistes.

Passionnés par la culture graphique et par le support qu’offre le jouet, nous travaillons aujourd’hui à créer une structure qui permettra d’offrir aux artistes la possibilité de ’exprimer et de se faire reconnaître sur ce média. Notre projet est de créer une alternative neuve et originale aux différentes propositions qui existent déjà.

Le Lab est né de la passion de deux amis. Bee a longuement travaillé avec les fabricants de jouets en Asie. Elle est une véritable spécialiste du suivi de fabrication et des discussions en décalage horaire. Denis,lui, est un passionné des arts graphiques ; sa curiosité l’amène à plonger dans toutes sortes d’univers et de styles artistiques. Il imagine un jouet qui servira de plate-forme, le jouet s’appelle «PLAYING ART». Ce jouet doit se différencier de la production actuelle, il est très articulé et présente de vraies surfaces vierges. Puisque le logo de la société représente un petit singe, PLAYING ART en reprend les formes mais sa tête reste plate pour ne pas influencer la création.
Nous envisageons la production d’exemplaires vierges mais travaillons aussi à produire une première série réalisée en collaboration avec des artistes de plusieurs pays. Le jouet est aussi décliné en version «mini», nous permettant de multiplier les collaborations.

Si PLAYING ART est la plate-forme, nous avons aussi l’intention d’éditer des jouets d’artistes aux formes originales. Les premiers jouets de cette série sont créés par Tizieu, artiste qui s’est fait reconnaître sur ses versions de Dunny réalisés par la société Kidrobot. Pour le Lab, il imagine un couple de petits singes, Marcel et Jessica, qui deviendront nos mascottes.

Nous pensons déjà à d’autres artistes, à d’autres projets...

We are «le Lab». Le Lab is a company that would look like the little monkey in our logo : mischievous and full of curiosity. Clever and insolent.

Our project is to create and build a new and original alternative to the different products that already exist.

«Le Lab» was born from the passion of two friends. Bee has a great deal of experience working with toy manufacturers in Asia. She is a true specialist in the follow-up and detail in the manufacturing of toys and discussions on different time zones. Denis, for his part, is a graphic art fanatic; his curiosity leads him to plunge into the universe that is artistic styles. He imagines a toy that would introduce the company to the «art toys» community, the toy is called “PLAYING ART”. This toy must be different from current production, it will be more articulated and will have true virgin surfaces.

Since the logo of the company represents a small monkey, «PLAYING ART» uses its shape but the face remains flat not to influence creation. We will consider the production of DIY specimens but will also work to produce a first series with artists of several countries. There will also be a mini version of our toy, allowing us to multiply the collaborations. If «PLAYING ART» is the platform, we intend also to publish original toys of artists. The first toys of this series are designed by Tizieu, artist whose Dunnys for the «French series» of the Kidrobot company are now established as a classic. For «le Lab», he imagined a couple of small monkeys, Marcel and Jessica, which will become our mascots.
